Change Mac OS screen shots to .jpg

This has been bothering me for a long time, and I never thought to change it, for everyone else who prefers .jpg to .png here is the how to do it:

Open Terminal (utilities folder)

type (or copy  paste):

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg

push enter

type:

killall SystemUIServer

done.

(you can substitute jpg for tiff or pdf if you like)
